Meet The Team

Reema2.jpg

Reema Dawar

President

Hello! I'm Reema and I’m a rising senior at Whitney High School. I co-founded Skits with my friend because we saw the need for hands-on science to be taught to the youth within our community, and I’m proud to be now leading this organization that has induced a love for learning within both our volunteers and our students. I’ve seen Skits grow from a board of three members and students from only one elementary school to reaching dozens of school districts and expanding to other states! Last year I was Vice President of Marketing and Fundraising for Skits. Some of my hobbies include reading, badminton, and baking. I am a competitive chess player.

Hello! I’m Sandeep and I am excited to be the new Director of Science Kits Development! I am a rising Senior at Whitney and I love to participate in sports and club activities. Some of my hobbies include playing basketball, running, and cooking. I am also an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, so I love to spend time outdoors camping, hiking, swimming, etc. I have been a part of Skits for 2 years and have taught a lot of fourth graders. I look forward to creating and developing exciting science kits for the kids this year.

Max Peng

Director of STEM Immersion Program

Hello Science enthusiasts! My name is Max Peng, and I am a junior at Gretchen Whitney High School. After tutoring students with Skits over the past year, I wanted to take the next step and continue bringing accessible science education to younger students by directing and leading the STEM Immersion Program. As a science enthusiast myself, working with Skits to help drive STEM education and passion in our local community has been a wonderful experience. A fun fact about myself is that I swear by pouring milk before cereal!

Swetha Ganesh

Director of Technology

Hello! My name is Swetha and I am a rising senior at Whitney High School.  I joined Skits Board since I thought its goals and vision aligns with my interest to help the youth community by spreading STEM. I hope to pursue a STEM-based career and thought that this was a great way to get students engaged in a more hands-on STEM experience. I have been intrigued by different art forms since I was a child and enjoy drawing, painting, sculpting, singing, and playing my bass clarinet. I like to hike and camp and hope to go skydiving when I am 18!

Sana Rajesh

Director of Communications

Hi! My name is Sana Rajesh and I am a current 10th grader at Whitney High School! Some fun facts about me probably have to be that I love traveling, love hiking, and have begun learning to play the acoustic guitar over quarantine. This year I am the Director of Communications, a position which I'm very grateful to have and ready to work hard in. Skits is an organization which I have worked with since they began their SIP program and have been very active in since. I admire what they do and how they impact so many elementary students. This is what drove me to join the board since it provided the opportunity to make my own impact on the community.

Leila Haidar

Director of Public Relations

Hello! My name is Leila Haidar, I’m 16 years old (to be 17 in September!), and I’m a senior at Whitney High School. I’m so glad to be part of the Skits Board as I’ve taught classes for Skits for over a year now through our STEM Immersion Program, and have enjoyed every minute of it! I’m especially excited about my role as Director of Public Relations as it gives me an opportunity to have a greater involvement in my community, and help encourage more students in the constant pursuit of learning. Hopefully as Director of PR I can help expand Skits further and improve it, and with this role I’m one step closer towards doing that! Some fun facts about me are that I play the electric guitar, I love DC comic books, and know the location and capital of every country in the world!

Zoey.jpg.JPG

Zoey Ji

Director of Publicity

My name is Zoey Ji and I’m going to be in ninth grade at Whitney High School! Something fun about me is that I do Chinese classical dance, which is a hobby I have done since I was about five years old. In addition, I like to do competition math and I try to improve at it during my free time. I decided to join the Skits board because I was a tutor during the summer of 2020 and really enjoyed that experience, leading to my motivation to apply. I also enjoy STEM and hope to pursue a STEM-oriented career in the future. STEM is what Skits mainly promotes and revolves around, so I didn’t want to miss out on being part of its board!

Hey! My name is Oscar Shi and I’m currently a junior at Ayala High School. I am going to be the Chapter President for the CVUSD School district. I look forward to working with everyone! I love art, working out, and playing video games. I also have two chihuahuas and one of them is super chubby! I decided to join the Skits board because I believe this is a great opportunity to involve myself with my community.

Winferd WEI

Chapter President (San Jose)

Hello, my name is Winferd and I am going into 10th grade at Lynbrook High School. In my free time, I like reading Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes again and again, as well as racing my Cavalier King Charles, Toto, around the block. I love working with Skits because when I was first a tutor, everything was well organized and the content was amazing. With Skits, I hope to expand the Northern California Chapter and help distribute affordable science kits to everyone, regardless of income.
