"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." - Thomas Edison
Here is a cool experiment that requires just three items and produces an amazing result. Enjoy!
Materials:
expo marker
some water
clear glass cup/plate/bowl
Directions:
1) Draw a simple picture on the glass with your expo marker.
2) Add some water it in and watch your picture slowly lift up.
3) Swirl the water around to bring your animation to life.
The Science Behind This All:
Ink in dry erase makers are insoluble(cannot be dissolved in liquids) and is also less dense than water. This means that when you pour water over a dry erase drawing then a strong buoyancy force(the ability or tendency to float in water or air or some other fluid.) pulls the doodle off the surface of the water and have it "float".
